Gallium Semi was registered in Singapore on April 27, 2021 but already has European employees based in Toulouse and Nijmegen as well as a test operation in Laguna, The Philippines.  The R&D center will perform GaN semiconductor product development, device design, customer application engineering and production support, Gallium Semi said.

The company already offers GaN-on-SiC discrete transistors that operate up to 8GHz with varying output power levels in plastic and ceramic packages, and bare die form suitable for applications in 5G and satellite communications, defense, commercial radar and test instrumentation.

Gallium claims these parts have been “engineered by a seasoned team with RF power and compound semiconductor expertise,” but does not mention from where the team has acquired its expertise.

“Nijmegen is the vibrant heart of Europe’s RF power technology and our presence here will allow us to expand our team with world class talent,” said Michael Guyonnet, vice president of networks at Gallium Semi, in a statement.
