In many industrial and medical applications there is a big need for powerful SBC, with low energy consumption. A good alternative to solutions with a COM (Computer on Module), which always need a base board is the use of a Single Board Computer (SBC) as there is no time and money lost in the development of the base board (faster time-to-market).
The armStoneA8 board is always shipped with a pre-installed operating system with Windows CE6.0, and WEC7 or Linux available. The boot loader, as well as SDK, BSP and finished kernel can be used immediately. DirectX, Open GL and GStreamer are being supported too.
In addition the board offers interfaces like USB Host/Device, 2x LAN, RS232, CAN, SPI, I2C, and audio (IN/OUT). Furthermore a LVDS-interface, a DVI-D (HDMI)-interface up to 1920×1080 and a touch panel interface is available. So you can connect two independent working displays/screens at the same time.
The CPU offers 2D and 3D graphics and a five Window-layer, FPU or a MPEG4/H264-decoder up to 1080p@30fps. The power consumption can only be a few watts, making it possible to run armStone without a fan or cooling element, and it comes with long-term availability of 5 to 7 years with a strict revision control.
The highly integrated module is available with a wide range of different TFT Displays (AUO, Sharp, CMO), inclusive inverters, tested cables and adapted Power-ON/OFF timing, making time intensive display adjustment redundant.
