Single board discovery kit offers choice of three 8-pin microcontrollers
The kit is characterized by simplicity without frills and a feature set that provides an effective starting aid for the next development step. A pushbutton and indicator LED are provided for interaction with the board. Built-in STLINK/V2 and USB ports simplify in-circuit debugging and programming from a connected PC. The MCUs are each soldered to their own break-offs, which can be separated from the motherboard as pluggable DIL-8 modules for prototyping.
The supported MCUs are STM8S001J3M3, STM8L001J3M3 and STM8L050J3M3. The STM8S001J3M3 offers performance at an affordable price with features such as 16-bit timers with three comparator outputs, three capture compare channels, a 10-bit ADC and an 8-bit timer. The STM8L001J3M3 ultra-low power device records only 0.3 µA in hold mode and is equipped with two comparators in addition to 8- and 16-bit timers. The STM8L050J3M3, which is also based on ultra-low power technology, also has a 12-bit ADC and a four-channel DMA controller.
All MCUs contain the state-of-the-art STM8 core with 16 MHz clock frequency as well as a chip-integrated flash memory of 8 KB. System control features include watchdog and clock control as well as popular communication interfaces such as UART, SPI and Fast I²C. With up to six user I/Os, the devices are ideally suited for industrial sensors, home automation products, intelligent lighting, access cards, chargers or intelligent printer cartridges.
