Precision oscillators, based on the Elite Platform™ set new benchmarks in dynamic performance, environmental immunity and reliability for small cell, synchronous Ethernet and time synchronization. Leveraging SiTime’s revolutionary DualMEMS™ noiseless temperature sensing and TurboCompensation™ architecture, these devices deliver the most stable timing in the presence of common environmental hazards – airflow, temperature perturbation, vibration, shock, power supply noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI).

5G is expected to transform connectivity with significantly higher bandwidth and lower latency. These features, offered after network densification and infrastructure upgrades, are expected to enable a host of new services such as network slicing and virtualization, broadband everywhere, faster machine-to-machine connectivity as well as automated driver assistance systems (ADAS).

In a dense 5G network that transmits at higher speeds, radio-to-radio time accuracy must be within 65 nanoseconds – 20 times better than 4G. MEMS-based timing products from SiTime enable this crucial requirement by ensuring synchronization in the toughest environment, such as in the presence of disturbers such as shock, vibration, rapid temperature changes, and extreme temperatures. Theses products do this while offering 20 times better reliability and one-fifth the power.

SiTime will showcase the Elite family of Super-TCXOs, including:

  • Demonstration highlighting the robustness of the Elite family – enabling 5G densification and operating under harsh operating conditions including rapid airflow, fast temperature transients, and vibration.
  • Dynamic performance of the SiTime oscillator, with DualMEMS technology, will be compared to the performance of a best-in-class quartz precision oscillator in side-by-side tests.
Patented architecture with DualMEMS, noiseless temperature sensing and TurboCompensation.

Elite Super-TCXOs deliver high dynamic stability under airflow, fast temp ramp: ±100 ppb over-temp stability; 3e-11 ADEV at 10 second averaging time, and ±1 ppb/°C frequency slope (ΔF/ΔT), 10°C/min ramp. The TCXOs have on-chip regulators, eliminating the need for an external LDO, and I2C frequency tuning eliminates the need for an external DAC. The TCXOs cover any frequency from 1 MHz to 220 MHz, with 0.1% frequency tuning linearity under all conditions.

Other key specifications include: up to 105°C operating temperature, no activity dips or micro-jumps, 0.1 ppb/g, resistance to vibration, and FlexEdge™ configurable rise/fall time for best EMI reduction.

Elite Super-TCXO frequency stability.

The TCXOs are ideal for applications such as IEEE1588, SyncE, IoT Infrastructure, 5G fronthaul and backhaul, small cells, and smart grid equipment. They offer benefits such as reduced dropped calls and link loss under all conditions, minimal time error in time synchronization applications, and simplified system design with best features and performance.
