Six new low-voltage dual SPST analog switches offer ultra-small packaging benefits
The DG721/2/3 are designed to operate from a single 1.8 V to 5.5 V power supply and are available in the ultra-compact 2 mm by 2 mm TDFN-8 package and the 5 mm by 3 mm MSOP-8 package. The DG2537/8/9 can be operated from a single or dual 1.6 V to 5.5 V power supply and feature the MSOP-10 package. All analog switches released today conduct well in both directions.
The switches are optimized for noise-sensitive signal switching in circuits such as analog front end, data acquisition path, programmable gain control, sample and hold, and in conjunction with ADC and DAC. Such designs are commonly seen in low-voltage instruments, control and automation equipment, portable meters, and healthcare products. The DG721/2/3 and DG2537/8/9 are ideal for both analog and digital signals, making them a good fit for applications such as PDAs and modems for which A/V and digital multimedia signals need to be routed.
Fabricated with advanced submicron CMOS technology, the DG721/2/3 and DG2537/8/9 provide low and flat on-resistance of 2.5 Ω typical to minimize insertion loss and distortion. The devices feature low leakage current of a few picoamps (typically), in addition to low parasitic off capacitance of 8 pF, on capacitance of 22 pF, and low charge injection of 1.8 pC to minimize signal noise. The switches offer a typical bandwidth of 366 MHz at – 3 dB and feature latch-up current > 300 mA per JESD78.
The devices contain two independent SPST switches. Switch 1 and Switch 2 are normally open for the DG721 and DG2537, and normally closed for the DG722 and DG2538. For the DG723 and DG2539, Switch 1 is normally open and Switch 2 is normally closed with a break-before-make switching timing.
Vishay Siliconix manufactures these products with lead (Pb)-free device terminations. The TDFN-8 package has a nickel-palladium-gold device termination and is represented by the lead (Pb)-free "-E4" suffix to the ordering part number. The MSOP packages have tin device terminations and are represented by "-E3". Both device terminations meet all JEDEC standards for reflow and MSL rating. The analog switches are compliant to RoHS directive 2002/95/EC and are halogen-free according to the IEC 61249-2-21 definition.
Availability
Samples and production quantities of the analog switches are available now with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders.
