The The Hi-545 and Hi-551 both support 2592 by1944 pixels (5M) while the Hi-581 offers higher resolution at 3264 by 2448 pixels. All three support 30 frame per second video capture.

The difference between the Hi-545 and the Hi-551 is that former is built with a pixel size of 1.4 micron by 1.4 micron, while the latter is made with a smaller pixel of 1.12 microns by 1.12 by microns. SK Hynix also indicated that the company has BSI sensors in development that use a yet smaller pixel measuring 0.9-micron by 0.9-micron.

All three sensors are in ¼-inch format with Bayer-layout color pixels and 10-bit outputs in RAW format. The analog and pixel circuitry operates at 2.8V while the digital core is dropped down to 1.2V and the I/O is at 1.8V.
