The LightCam is offered as a plug-and-play design requiring almost no set-up. The fully adjustable unit works in any light fixture – indoors or outdoors – and uses no batteries.

Controlled via an Android or iOS smartphone app, LightCam sends real-time motion alerts to a user’s smartphone via Wi-Fi. According to the developer, it has built-in infrared night vision up to about 30 feet, secure microSD internal storage of about one week of video recording, two-way communication, and requires no monthly fees or subscriptions.

Each LightCam includes a unique QR code that, when scanned, will associate the device with a user’s LightCam account. To help prevent theft or unauthorized use, whenever LightCam tries to connect to Wi-Fi, users will receive a confirmation notification request.

LightCam is compatible with Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and ZigBee protocols. With 13 days remaining in its crowdfunding campaign, the project has already raised more than five times its $22,259 goal.

The LightCam is available to early funders for $99 (or $180 for two units). Estimated delivery is August 2018.
