The CISPR 35 EMC standard that prescribes future disturbance signal testing requirements for multimedia equipment is expected to be adopted this spring. The new CISPR 35 will combine the current test standards for devices and components in the IT (CISPR 24) and consumer electronics (CISPR 20) fields.

The new regulation will considerably simplify the test setup process for consumer electronics manufacturers. They will no longer require independent test systems for radio, TV and A/V receivers or media players but merely an extension of an existing EMC test system that is compliant with EN 61000-4-3 and EN 61000-4-6. Manufacturers of devices such as notebooks, printers, routers or even ATMs will typically require only the new software option to update their existing test setup and carry out tests in line with the new regulations.

Availability of the R&S EMC32-K35 option for CISPR 35-compliant tests will coincide with the publication of the new EMC standard, which is expected to be at the end of March.
