Solid State Drive with unique ruggedized SATA connectors
Designed in partnership with connector maker Hypertronics Corporation, the TRRUST-Stor is intended for operation in hostile environments where industry-standard SATA connectors are inadequate.
"The weakest link in many embedded applications is the connector, which can sabotage the operation of critical hardware," said BJ Heggli, vice president of Strategic Development and assistant general manager for Microsemi. "Our new connector family protects against the effects of severe shock and vibration, which safeguards the flow of data. As a result, we can now offer customers what is perhaps the most secure and rugged SSD available on the market."
A unique contact and pin design eliminates pin fretting and intermittent disconnects to assure long-term dependability. Offered in several form factors, from board-mount to cable sets, the connector family provides a complete vibration-resistant solution for products where solid performance and zero downtime are key requirements.
The extended environment connectors are designed with 50 percent lower contact resistance than conventional designs and provide a minimum of 100,000 insertions with little to no performance degradation. Mating connectors are available in right angle, vertical and cable set configurations, supporting SATA rates up to six gigabits per second (Gb/s). The cable mount version of the connector includes a quarter-turn latching mechanism that simplifies installation and assures a reliable long-term connection.
