Solution for GUI-based embedded system testing

The aim of the partnership is to offer both development and test engineers from a wide variety of industries with access to an integrated toolchain. The solution combines software tools that cover both the classic GUI test and the control unit test. It is intended to guarantee that comprehensive quality assurance at all stages of development is available.

Engineers often ask for tools that can test the entire system when working with distributed systems, including for testing the graphical user interface (GUI). froglogic and Vector have brought together their test domain tools Squish for GUI tests as well as CANoe and vTESTstudio for testing embedded systems. The combination of the two companies’ offerings help to provide efficient quality assurance of the overall system.

The testing solution is based on the open interfaces of Squish and the support of C # in vTESTstudio and CANoe. A plug-in has been developed that allows the full functionality of Squish to be accessed directly from CANoe tests. This access includes including image- and property-based verifications, OCR as well as professional UI automation.

The integrated approach taken by Vector and froglogic allows users to implement fully integrated end-to-end tests in which GUI control elements are stimulated before the resulting effect is verified at the hardware interfaces – and vice versa.

Free demo versions of the integrated tool are available from both companies.
