
The background is that most of the systems on the market offer EMI protection only through the cable shield and the connected plug. This means that a permanent, reliable EMC connection with the jack is not ensured. Yamaichi has therefore developed special contact springs for the plug area of the Y-ConCover-10-E and Y-ConCover-40-E that ensure a reliable connection between the plug and the jack.
The contact spring offers reliable EMI protection and ensures that applications remain protected without interruption even for vibrations and shock of up to 50 g. The Y-ConCover-40-E, consisting of a metal housing developed for the harshest industrial requirements, represented a particular challenge.
For full EMI protection to be provided for the metal housing, Yamaichi used a special washer that is integrated into the housing. This also protects the entire interior area of the plug connector. The two field-assembly versions Y-ConCover-10-E and Y-ConCover-40-E are delivered with the new EMC spring already pre-assembled.
In the Y-ConCover-40-E, the additional washer is then assembled during assembly of the cable. The operation fields of both Y-ConCover units covers a temperature range from -40 to +120 °C and guarantees continual EMI protection and thus protection of upstream and downstream electronics, even with vibration.
Yamaichi thus offers a complete product spectrum in the area of EMI protection. The Y-ConCover-10-E and Y-ConCover-40-E are protected according to the demanding protection categories IP67, IP68, and IP69K. The complete RJ45 EMI product portfolio also includes protection category IP20.
