The company’s worklights, such as the Flat Beam 1000, are also equipped with this innovative technology, to provide all-round work assistance to drivers of agricultural and construction machinery, municipal, emergency and special vehicles. Unlike dipped headlights, foglights and highbeam headlights, worklights are not suitable for illuminating the roadway, their specialty is close work and lighting up the nearby ground or a wider terrain. This enables them to effectively increase productivity and improve work safety. Hella has now developed a new version of its Flat Beam 1000 LED worklight.
The special optics in the lens direct the light generated by the LEDs onto the surface that is to be illuminated at an angle of 45°. A total of 60 LEDs generate a light output of 1,100 lumens over an extra-wide homogeneous nearby range. And this innovative worklight consumes only 11W. By comparison, an H3 halogen worklight achieves the same light output for a power consumption of 55W. The Flat Beam 1000 is thus remarkable not only for its excellent illumination, its low energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions are equally convincing.
A special thermal protection system protects the spotlight’s 30 mm deep LEDs from overheating and the resultant premature failure. The shallow housing makes the Flat Beam 1000 extremely versatile, for instance it can be installed on the back of a truck as an alternative to a H3 halogen worklight, or on rescue and emergency vehicles to illuminate the scene. The Flat Beam 1000 is suitable for both 12V and 24V operation. At the automechanika 2010 industrial fair, its innovative and environmentally friendly features won it the "Green Directory" award that marks particularly sustainable products.
