ST adds wireless support to smart-meter chipset
In cases where power lines are too noisy for PLC communications, or where local regulations dictate, developers can implement wireless and PLC quickly and efficiently with the ST8500. The RF capability also allows designers use the ST8500’s high feature integration and in other smart devices such as gas and water smart meters, environmental monitors, lighting controllers, and industrial sensors.
ST will exhibit the ST8500 chipset and demonstrate smart-meter, smart-home and -building, and smart-infrastructure customer solutions at European Utility Week in Paris, November 12-14, booth J160.
