ST denies pause in taking MCU orders
ST issued a statement Thursday July 20 saying it continues to manage its business as usual to support customer demand.
In the statement ST referenced a Bloomberg article as “false media speculation.”
ST identified the article as saying falsely that: “STMicroelectronics may resume taking MCU orders after year-end, Taipei-based Economic Daily News reports, citing unidentified people from supply chain.”
Another Taiwanese publication Digitimes reported unnamed industry sources as saying that ST has extended delivery lead times for 32-bit MCUs due to strong demand and plans to stop taking orders temporarily after July. The Digitimes article said that Japanese MCU suppliers are quoting delivery times of up to nine months but that this was benefitting Taiwan-based MCU vendors who are receiving transferred orders.
