The Adobe AIR software is seen as a key component of the Adobe Flash platform and enables OEMs, ODMs, application and service developers to create and build rich internet applications, games and interactive HD video for embedded devices and systems, in particular STBs.
The reference design uses Adobe software tools to develop applications based on ActionScript 3, by using the hardware features of the STi7108 to produce audio and video up to 1080p using industry standard codecs including Dolby AAC audio and H.264 video.
The SoC features the ARM Mali-400 graphics processor and a 3D graphics engine to deliver a ‘new class’ of user interfaces. It also provides for up to six transport streams for full resolution HD 3DTV over HDMI 1.4 with HDCP copy protection. DRM support is also included, along with content sharing based on the DLNA specification. ST has also successfully ported Adobe Flash technology to its STi7105 decoder based platform for entry-level and mid-range HDTV STBs.
