The TR4 enables stacking through multiple High Speed Mezzanine Card (HSMC) connector ports which feature back-side male connectors for connecting to other TR4 boards. In total, there are 492 free I/O pins as well as transceivers that support a data rate up to 8.5Gbps. The number of ports allows engineers to match the TR4 board to exact specifications by using add-on cards from Terasic or custom solutions. The TR4 includes two Gen.2 x4 PCIe connectors that allow high-speed communication with a host computer. For memory, a DDR3 SO-DIMM module is provided, as well as on-board flash memory and high-speed SSRAM. The TR4 also features an on-board USB Blaster for direct FPGA programming via USB.
