The technology demonstration will show uBeam’s contact-free power-at-a-distance ultrasonic wireless power system. This transfers power via ultrasonic sound rather than electromagnetic fields. The company is aiming the technology at consumer products, such as portable electronics and smart home devices, as well as industrial IoT sensors and asset trackers.
Founder and chief executive Meredith Perry had to step down in September having raised $40m for the technology with over 100 filed patents after doubts about how effective the technology can be. A replacement has still to be appointed.
