Stellantis has taken a big step in its AI adoption strategy by expanding its collaboration with French startup Mistral AI from pilots to enterprise-wide AI deployment. The two companies announced the move at Italian Tech Week in Turin, where they outlined new initiatives to embed generative AI across Stellantis’ operations.

The move is significant as the automotive giant is turning AI from an R&D playground into a strategic tool for sales, engineering, and customer service—offering real-world insights into how enterprise AI can scale in a highly complex industry.

From pilots to full-scale deployment

Over the past 18 months, Stellantis and Mistral AI have tested generative AI in areas such as in-car assistants and engineering workflows. Now the partnership is entering a new phase with the ambition to put AI at the core of Stellantis’ business processes.

“Our work with Mistral AI is helping us move faster and smarter. What makes this partnership unique is Mistral AI’s ability to work closely with Stellantis to deliver meaningful results,” said Ned Curic, Stellantis Chief Engineering & Technology Officer. “Together, we are shaping intelligent, adaptable systems that bring real value to our customers and help Stellantis stay ahead.”

Mistral AI CEO and co-founder Arthur Mensch added: “Stellantis is a unique partner for Mistral AI because of its scale, engineering depth and determination to apply AI across every part of the enterprise.”

New platforms to drive innovation

To accelerate adoption, the partners are launching two new structures. The Innovation Lab will co-develop custom AI solutions, initially focusing on sales and aftersales. The Transformation Academy will focus on scaling prototypes into production-ready solutions, ensuring measurable business impact across the company.

By leveraging customer data and feedback, the collaboration aims to improve efficiency, enhance personalization, and speed up innovation cycles. For Stellantis, this expanded partnership positions AI as a competitive advantage in the fast-evolving mobility sector.
