Step-down voltage controller features 0.008%/V line regulation
The controller supports point-of-load (POL) supplies from industrial 24 VDC and 24 VAC rectified sources. The emulated current mode constant on-time (COT) control scheme provides the fast transient response of conventional COT controllers without any of their compromises. This device delivers core voltage rails for ASICs, FPGAs, DSPs and other various processors in medical, automotive, instrumentation and industrial markets.
The XR75100 can provide 0.008%/V line regulation across the entire input voltage range and 1% output accuracy over full temperature range, giving increased design margins. Exar’s COT control loop enables operation with ceramic output capacitors, eliminating loop compensation and reducing overall component count for ease of system design. The XR75100 is specified with an input voltage range of 5V to 40V and delivers an adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 30V. The device offers supervisory and protection features for proper sequencing, safe operation under abnormal operating conditions and light load operation. Exar’s COT control scheme, the company says, makes the XR75100 easy to design with and keeps the component count low.
In a 16-pin 3 x 3mm QFN package the device costs $1.59 (1000).
