STMicroelectronics joins Car Connectivity Consortium
ST already has many products suitable for automotive connectivity, including ST25 NFC readers, ST33 Secure Elements, STA12 Accordo infotainment processors, STA13 Telemaco vehicle processors, and Stellar vehicle gateway/domain MCUs.
ST is also a large player in the NFC technology market, both for digital key applications and as a conduit for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing. The company also has technologies for wireless charging, including authentication and foreign object detection. eSIM technology helps to secure automotive applications. Infotainment is addressed by ST by pairing technology for smartphones and mirroring displays on the head-unit. Additional features could also include automotive data collection through various sensors and then pre-processing to reduce network bandwidth from 2GB/km to about 10KB/km.
