Stoneridge, Valens join forces for truck safety solution
Valens Semiconductor, a provider of high-speed connectivity technology for the automotive market, and Stoneridge Inc, a designer and manufacturer of complex electrical and electronic systems for vehicles, are entering into a strategic partnership to introduce a connectivity solution for camera and safety systems in tractor-trailers. The focus of the cooperation is on increasing the road safety of trucks.
The field of vision of today’s trucks in road traffic is severely limited. This is partly due to the fact that existing interface solutions are not able to address the challenges within the vehicles or to ensure the required data transmission rates over the entire length of the tractor unit and semi-trailer to a sufficient extent.
For this reason, Valens and Stoneridge have been working since 2020 to develop a solution for data transfer over relatively long distances that enables the transmission of high-quality video streams without latency or errors.
“In conjunction with our Stoneridge cameras, Valens’ connectivity solution opens up new opportunities for the development of new technologies and products beyond our current portfolio that will help further improve commercial vehicle safety as well as reduce operating costs for fleets,” said Jon DeGaynor, president and CEO of Stoneridge.
