Efficient power management has become an important design consideration in order to save energy, especially for applications relying on battery power. While the supplied voltage increases due to the greater demand for performance and sophistication, especially power consumption in stand-by mode has proofed to be problematic. In response to this, ROHM has developed new compact, high precision, low dark current regulators in two different versions.  

The BD7xxLx series in a HTSOP-J8 package is a family of low quiescent current linear regulators featuring 45 V absolute maximum voltage, an output voltage accuracy of ±2%, 200 mA or 500 mA output current and 6.5 μA (Typ.) current consumption. Low saturation voltage is achieved by using a PMOS output transistor and ceramic capacitors can be used for compensation of the output capacitor phase.   

The BD9901x series in a HTSSOP-B24 package offers low Iq DCDC regulators for a maximum input voltage of 42 V, 2 A output current and a quiescent current consumption of typ. 22 μA. Integrated MOSFETs serve as synchronous rectifier and the switching frequency is scaled from 200k to 500 kHz. In addition, the line-up features current mode control.     

Availability   

The LDO series is already available in OEM quantities. The Low Iq switching regulators are available in sample quantities.  OEM quantities will be available in February 2013.
