Synchronous rectification ICs meet power reduction targets in switched mode designs

The IR1161L and IR11688S SSR ICs complete the company’s range of devices and meet the new 2016 standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy and the “European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centre” which demand a 1 to 3 percent efficiency improvement over previous requirements. Taking 2 percent saving as an average for new adapters, US notebook users alone can save 525 GWh per year – which is enough to power New York City for at least 40 days.

The IR1161L is targeted for flyback SMPS in chargers and adapters while the IR11688S is targeted for LLC SMPS in televisions, desktops, silver boxes and micro-servers. Both offer 200 V direct sensing which eliminates the need for external voltage dividers. The family also features programmable MOT (minimum on time) ensuring reliable operation from no-load to full-load. The low quiescent current capability meets the standby requirements of the new 2016 efficiency standard in the industry.
