Sysgo and Candera roll hypervisor-based automotive HMI solution
The two companies have now presented a reference implementation based on two boards – one is an R-CAR H3 board from Renesas and one with an STMicroelectronics Telemaco3P processor. The digital cockpit and an on-board infotainment system (IVI) run on the Renesas board. These applications were created with the fully scalable and hardware independent CGI studio. Both displays (cluster and IVI) communicate smoothly with each other. This is made possible by Candera’s messaging and data binding tool Courier Interaction Framework for seamless interaction between the HMI application and external data sources. Flexible, interacting scenes, impressive 3D animations and multi-language support are just a few of the additional functions realised with Candera’s CGI studio. The internal vehicle infrastructure is protected by a scalable gateway that includes monitoring of connection channels such as LTE, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and CAN.
The Telemaco 3P processor is the link to the outside world and forms the hardware basis for the secure gateway functionality of SACoP. It is also used to provide passengers’ tablets and smartphones with Internet access.
The software is based on the Automotive Connectivity Platform from Sysgo. The SACoP uses the advantages of the real-time operating system and the hypervisor PikeOS. It enables the simultaneous operation of critical and non-critical tasks on one system and ensures information security by protecting data transmissions through strict encapsulation and separation of all communication channels.
The partitioning mechanism is complemented by a secure boot process, an integrated intrusion detection system and a firewall, thus meeting demanding cyber security requirements. The feature-rich intrusion detection system runs within ELinOS, Sysgo’s robust industrial Linux distribution with long-term support suitable for automobiles. ELinOS itself runs as a guest operating system on PikeOS. The development environment provides a flexible software framework to help customers design their software architecture.
