Tasking in Germany has bought UK software tool provider LDRA for an undisclosed sum.

The LDRA tools achieve early error identification and elimination through requirements traceability, static and dynamic code analysis, and unit- and system-level verification on a wide variety of multicore hardware and software platforms and across several embedded markets. The reporting capabilities help critical application development teams to mitigate risk and demonstrate compliance to functional safety and security standards.

“LDRA products do complement Tasking’s tool chain which will be offered to the automotive but also non-automotive safety and security critical industries.  The acquisition of LDRA enlarges our joint product portfolio which is ultimately beneficial for both, our existing customers, and new customers,” said Tasking.

LDRA Testbed together with TBvision provide the foundational static and dynamic analysis engine, and a visualization engine to easily understand and navigate standards compliance, quality metrics, and code coverage analyses.

TBrun provides test case management and automated execution for unit and integration testing. TBmanager automates traceability between standards objectives, requirements, design documents, source code, tests and associated artefacts within the project verification workflow.

LDRA, based in Liverpool, also provides certification services that complement the tools for automotive and aerospace applications, and the two companies integrated their toolchains back in 2011. It has 100 staff.

The certification covers automotive with ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434 and Automotive SPICE as well as aerospace and defence with DO-178B/C, DO-254, DO-278 and Def Stan 00-56 and industrial and energy with IEC 61508, IEC 62443-4-1, IEC 60880 and ISO 13849. Medical certification to IEC 62304 and rail transportation to EN 50128 is also covered.

Tasking has acquired German embedded tool supplier iSystem as part of its growth strategy.

“With the acquisition of LDRA, we offer our customers a comprehensive portfolio to support the software development for safety-critical applications in a wide range of markets, including aerospace and automotive,” said Gregor Zink, CEO of Tasking.

“With the combination of our product portfolios, we speed development and verification of critical embedded applications using industry best practices even on the most complex applications that leverage multicore processors,” said Ian Hennell, Operations Director of LDRA.
