The test probe and connector families are aimed at design and test engineers, PAT testers, electrical contractors and electrical test and repair facilities and are available direct or from a number of major distributors throughout Europe. The company has long experience of manufacturing high-quality test probe technology for major OEMs and these are now being sold direct.

There are straight and right-angle test probe versions with 2mm and 4mm diameters with options including spring loaded safety shrouds and stackable models which allow multiple connections to a single socket mounted on a panel or PCB.

“We have a great deal of experience in manufacturing high quality test lead sets for many well-known brands of test meters. Supplying test plugs and probes direct to end users not only widens the market we can service but also gives test equipment users an alternative and lower cost source for replacement components,” said John Hall, Managing Director of Cliff Electronics.

Test plugs are available for low and high voltage applications and comply with EN 61010 including section 2-031 for high voltage versions. Contacts are made from brass, nickel silver and phosphor-bronze, plated with tin, nickel or gold as appropriate. Standard colours are red, black, blue, green and yellow.

The test probe and crocodile clip families have a 4mm connection socket, are designed to exceed the requirements of EN 61010 section 2-031 and are intended for use with instrumentation and test and measurement equipment. All materials used are tough and durable and suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Standard colours are red and black with other colours available on special order with minimum quantity requirements. Cliff test probes can be supplied to OEMs assembled to PVC or silicone cables.

The test probe family is used in a variety of applications and provide a reliable means of testing bare or loaded circuits where a number of contact points must be accessed. It is supplied ready for direct cable connection or with collet strain relief, removable tip cover or retractable tip shroud and an option of an inbuilt 1000V fuse. Various sizes of spiked or lantern tips may be specified, and versions are available meeting CAT III 600V and CAT III 1KV.
