The real art of electronics
Many of todays electronic engineers must have studied the famous book ‘The Art of Electronics’ by Paul Horowitz and Winfield Hill. An excellent book that still is worth studying and the title literally inspires a lot of people to make art with electronics. On twitter and youtube you can find many examples of this real art of electronics. No PCB design required, the engineers (or perhaps better, the artists) freeform the circuitry by using the pins and wires of the components, copper wires and a lot of soldering. A quick search on the internet will bring you to pages with freeform Arduino circuits, radios, counters and clocks – all beautiful and real mantelpieces.
Mohit Bhoite is popular on Twitter with his designs, but the real lover must have a look at the work of Peter Vogel. This engineer and artist died in 2017, but you still can admire his work and interactive installations online.
