At the EPI forum in Barcelona eeNews Europe discussed the state of the initiative with Eric Monchalin, the chair of the European processor initiative
The EPI plays a critical role in creating an independent semiconductor/processor industry in Europe and counter weight the silicon industries in the US, China and Asia. Eric explains how the geopolitical developments create a new urgency to this project and .. it looks like the initiative is successful. With Sipearl the EPI is working on the the 2nd Rhea processor for use in HPC systems and with Semidynamics a RISC-V based Accelerator chip has been developed.
