Thermal MEMS sensor offers wide field-of-view

By eeNews Europe

The Omron D6T-32L-01A has a 90.0° by 90.0° view that can monitor a whole rom from a single point. It can measure temperatures of 0-200ºC with no contact in ambient temperatures of -10-70ºC.

The D6T range of MEMS thermal sensors use an IR sensor that is able to measure the surface temperature of objects thorough a thermopile element that absorbs radiated energy from the target object. Omron’s MEMS thermopile is a custom sensor ASIC with a signal processing MPU and algorithm in a small package. The sensor signal is converted to a digital temperature output for a straightforward interface to a microcontroller. The D6T measures only 14 x 8 x 8.93 mm for the 32 x 32 element version.
