Thread platform simplifies IoT connectivity
The Thread platform features the company’s latest wireless microcontroller, the JN5179, based on the ARM Cortex-M3 CPU, and a 2.4 GHz radio (based on IEEE 802.15.4) which supports low power communications protocols including ZigBee 3.0 and Thread.
"With NXP’s Thread platform running the ARM mbed OS, developers now have a clear route through the complex protocol and software development challenges inherent in IoT applications," said Zach Shelby, vice president of marketing, IoT business, ARM. "Companies involved in the design and specification of IoT products need to forge strong ties with ARM partners such as NXP at the start of every project to ensure an optimized, seamless, secure experience for end users."
JN5179 microcontroller samples are available now. Full evaluation kits for the JN5179 mbed modules will be available early next year.
