TI adds development support for C2000 DSP/MCU in LaunchPad format
The low-cost C2000 Delfino F28377S microcontroller (MCU) LaunchPad development kit is TI’s first LaunchPad for the Delfino line of MCU. Based on the C2000 Delfino F28377S MCU, the LaunchPad offers 200 MHz of 32-bit floating-point performance, newly integrated accelerators, as well as high-integrity analogue and control peripherals, for $29.99. The LaunchPad is compatible with the Digital Power BoosterPack and Motor Drive BoosterPack and offers a variety of software support to further ease development. The Delfino LaunchPad, TI says, reduces the barriers of entry for development of high-performance control systems in digital power, solar, motor control and industrial drives applications.
With the 32-bit TMS320F28377S MCU the LaunchPad provides higher performance levels than existing C2000 LaunchPads with the powerful combination of the C28x core and CLA real-time co-processor, providing 400 MIPS of floating-point performance. The MCU is further accelerated by the trigonometric math unit (TMU), which enables the chip to quickly execute trigonometric-based algorithms used in transform and control functions, and a Viterbi Complex Unit (VCU II), which accelerates power line communications algorithms and complex math operations. The MCU also integrates analogue and control peripherals, including a more flexible PWM architecture, two ADCs supported in 12-bit mode on the LaunchPad, six delta-sigma sinc filters, four windowed comparators and many other control and communications peripherals.
The C2000 Delfino F28377S MCU LaunchPad pairs with the Digital Power BoosterPack and the Motor Drive BoosterPack to help designers start digital power and motor control development. The LaunchPad is supported by powerSUITE in the controlSUITE software tool, which provides centralised software development with examples, header files, and application files. Designers also have access to a complimentary download of Code Composer Studio Integrated Development Environment (IDE), a programming interface and debugging tool and TI-RTOS, which supports development of multitasking applications. Altair’s model-based simulation tool provides further support for TI’s C2000 F28377S MCU in the VisSim software tool.
The C2000 Delfino F28377S MCU LaunchPad (LAUNCHXL-F28377S) is $29.99. The compatible Digital Power BoosterPack (BOOSTXL-BUCKCONV) is $59, and the Motor Drive BoosterPack (BOOSTXL-DRV8301) is $49. LaunchPad bundled with the Digital Power BoosterPack (LAUNCH-XS-BUCKCONV) is $83.99, or the LaunchPad bundled with the Motor Drive BoosterPack (LAUNCH-XS-DRV8301) is $78.99. To further ease development, customers can access controlSUITE, Energia, TI-RTOS and Code Composer Studio IDE free from ti.com. TI intends to provide designers with more variants in this generation with different memory and peripheral mixes in the TMS32028376S, TMS320F28375S and TMS320F28374S configurations, which will start at $11.34 (1000).
