Tiny OCXO from TFC does not compromise on performance
In most cases the smaller the package the harder it is to obtain a good temperature profiling. RFX have overcome this by designing good thermal insolation combined with high dynamic controller gain, resulting in better than ten parts per billion stability over the temperature range of -40 °C to +70°C.
This design also does not affect the company’s normal noise performance, because of the careful attention to layout and high power supply noise isolation. The oscillator requires 1.8 W of power at warm up. Warm up time is fast, Typically less than 2 minutes.
With the use of an SC resonator in the design, long term aging is in the region of fifty parts per billion per year of operation. Only weighing 5 grams it has very good shock and vibration characteristics. The DIL SC is an excellent choice when space or power is limited but performance cannot be compromised.
