A European project is aiming to provide ultra-low cost access to silicon chips for educational schemes.
TinyTapeout is an educational project that aims to make it easier and cheaper than ever to get digital designs manufactured on silicon.
The first demonstrator is preparing to run on the next Efabless shuttle run on the 1st of September but will take six months to receive the resulting die. The designs can be put on a board for $100.
The scheme is aimed at schools and hobbyists as well as entry level digital design courses at university and open source silicon enthusiasts.
