Top ten analog chip makers in 2020
Skyworks Solutions posted the strongest annual sales increase in 2020 in the latest ranking of the top ten analog chip makers. These accounted for 62 percent of total analog IC sales of $57.0bn, the same percentage as in 2019.
With analog sales of $10.9 billion and 19 percent marketshare, Texas Instruments remained number one and increased its lead over second-ranked Analog Devices. TI’s 2020 analog revenue accounted for 80 percent of its $13.6 billion in IC sales and 75 percent of its $14.5 billion in total semiconductor revenue.

Skyworks’ growth in 2020 was driven by upgrade cycles for cellular communications and Wi-Fi. The company said its devices were part of the 5G-smartphone launches at Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and other Tier-1 players.
With Skyworks jumping into third place, European chip vendors are now ranked 4, 5 and 6 – Infineon, STMicroelectronics and NXP, respectively. Collectively, they accounted for 17 percent of global marketshare, one point less than in 2019.
Infineon’s analog IC sales were up 2 percent year-on-year to $3.8 billion. At ST analog sales slipped 1 percent to $3.3 billion while NXP was ranked number six with sales of $2.5 billion.
IC Insights ranking of an analog IC is one used by World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS), that reads, “Devices are classified as analog if at least 50 percent of the total die area of the integrated circuits(s) in the device is occupied by analog circuitry.” Some analog companies embed less than 50 percent analog circuitry onto their various logic chips.
