The device is intended for use camera modules in smartphones and tablets with sample shipments starting last week.
Smartphones and tablets require smaller cameras with higher resolution and the 1.12-micron pixel size of the T4KA7 contributes to this. It can capture 20Mpixel images at a frame rate of 22fps, 1.8 times faster than that of Toshiba’s T4K46 20Mpixel image sensor, which has a pixel dimension of 1.2-micron.
A reference module incorporating the new product was due to be available from September 1.
