Transimpedance amplifier drives 28Gbps signals for 100G optical nets
ONET2804T, TI says, offers high levels of sensitivity with negligible cross-talk penalty and low input-referred noise (IRN) to provide stable and robust communication in hot-pluggable transceivers. The newest member of TI’s broad optical networking portfolio, the 100G TIA serves parallel optical interconnects in applications with data rates of up to 28 Gbps, such as optical line cards, point-to-point microwave backhauls and video over fibre.
The ONET2804T has high sensitivity – less than 2 µA IRN and virtually no cross talk between channels help achieve high signal integrity. Using a two-wire I²C interface, designers can optimise their systems to drive high performance at low power consumption. The TIA’s 750-µm channel pitch enables designers to wire bond directly to a photodiode, which reduces system complexity.
In addition to TIAs, Texas Instruments’ offering in the sector includes laser drivers and limiting amplifiers to build optical networking systems. The ONET2804T is available in a 750-µm channel-pitch bare die for $45.00 (1000). TI offers background on the technology challenges of 100G networking; how to address 100G growing pains.
