The reason for his decision was not quarrelling with supervisory board or with anybody else in the management board, nor had it anything to do with his performance. Bauer gave up the position at the top of Europe’s second largest semiconductor manufacturer for health reasons. According to the press release in which he announced his resignation his physical condition had worsened significantly which led to his decision.
