Triple half bridge driver chip addresses 48V vehicle systems
The device can control up to three NMOS half bridges for BLDC motors in the power range to 1000W. It has an integrated DC/DC buck converter that generates the voltages for the gate drivers and the supply for the integrated microcontroller. In addition, an internal 3.5V regulator can supply up to 30mA to a microcontroller. For higher loads, an external transistor may be added. Comprehensive monitoring and diagnosis functions for the MOSFETs ensure reliability and stable operation, the AEC-Q100 certification opens the door to deployment in automotive environments.
Possible applications include BLDC motor drives as well as general applications within the 48V part of split-voltage supplies in vehicles, 48V telecommunications applications and in general industrial applications at voltages between 24V and 72V. The vendor provides free-of-charge application software for block and sinus wave commutation as well as for space vector modulation. A reference board with power stage and PC-based development environment completes the offer.
A specific feature of the E523.52 is its high design flexibility. The compact QFN36L7 casing requires little installation space, the three half bridges with three high-side and low-side gate drivers each are controlled through a high-voltage input, a digital RUN pin and six digital channels. The six PWM inputs can be configured freely. Thanks to its internal temperature monitoring and the casing which has been designed with efficient cooling in mind the chip can be operated at temperatures between -40°C and +125°C. To output channels provide over and under voltage as well as overheating.
