TSMC continues to defy market, increases sales
February sales at TSMC grew year-on-year while those at fellow Taiwanese foundry UMC showed a steep annual decline.
In February TSMC achieved sales of NT$163.17 billion (about US$5.3 billion) up 11.1 percent compared with the same month a year before. This growth is gradually tapering down. In January 2023 TSMC was up on an annual basis by 16.2 percent and in December 2022 TSMC was up 23.9 percent.
TSMC’s sales for the 2023 year-to-date were NT$363.22 billion (about US$11.8 billion), up 13.8 percent compared with the same two months in 2022.
Meanwhile UMC’s February sales were NT$16.93 billion (about US$550 million), down 18.6 percent on a year before. For the year-to-date UMC’s sales are NT$36.52 billion (about US$1.2 billion), down by 11.5 percent on the first two months of 2022.
