TSMC sales climb again in October

In October, sales of the world’s leading foundry jumped by 24.8 percent sequentially and 29.2 year-on-year to reach NT$314.24 billion (about US$9.70 billion).

The foundry continues to enjoy a stellar year with year-to-date sales at NT$2340.09 billion (about US$71.92 billion) up 31.5 percent compared with the first ten months of 2023.

These figures have been achieved largely on demand for leading edge manufacturing processes of 7nm or lower geometry although TSMC has now been instructed to stop shipping advanced AI processors and GPU chips to China with immediate effect

TSMC reported that leading-edge manufacturing at 7nm, 5nm, 3nm accounted for 69 percent of revenues in 3Q24.

In October Taiwanese foundry UMC’s sales were NT$21.37 billion (about US$659 million), a sequential jump of 12.8 percent and up year-on-year by 11.4 percent.

In the first ten months of 2024 UMC took in revenue of NT$193.29 billion (about US$5.96 billion), up 3.5 percent compared with the first ten months of 2023.
