TSMC’s 2025 sales running 40% ahead of 2024

The world’s leading foundry TSMC achieved February sales of NT$260.0 billion (about US$7.91 billion), up 43.1 percent from February 2024.
This followed a similarly booming January for the chip maker. As a result, TSMC’s first two months of 2025 have produced sales of NT$553.3 billion (about US$16.82 billion) and increase of 39.2 percent on the first two months of 2024.
The booming sales suggest continued strength of demand for AI and high-performance computing processors where TSMC’s world leading production is unrivalled.
Neighbour foundry United Microelectronics Corp. addresses a broader set of markets with more mature manufacturing processes where there is plenty of competition – and potential oversupply from China.
UMC reported February sales of NT$18.2 billion (about US$553.2 million), up 4.2 percent on sales in February 2024. For its year-to-date UMC has reported sales of NT$38.0 billion (about US$1.16 billion), also up 4.2 percent on the same period in 2024.
