
TSMC’s January sales up 35% year-on-year
Sales revenue at leading foundry TSMC jumped higher to show remarkable annual growth. Neighbouring foundry UMC was close behind in annual growth.
TSMC’s January sales return was NT$172.18 billion (about US$6.16 billion), an increase of 10.8 percent from December 2021 and an increase of 35.8 percent from January 2021.
Fellow foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) had a similar January. It announced January 2022 sales of NT$20.47 billion (about US$732.4 million) up 31.8 percent from the same month a year before.
UMC said it is expecting to increase its average selling price for sales in the first quarter of 2022 by 5 percent quarter-on-quarter.
