
TSMC’s sales up 20 percent in September
TSMC’s revenue in the 3Q21 was NT$414.68 billion (about US$14.75 billion), at the mid-point of guidance given with the company’s 2Q21 financial results of $14.6 billion to $14.9 billion
TSMC’s revenue for the year to date totalled NT$1,149.23 billion (about $40.9 billion), an increase of 17.5 percent to the same period in 2020.
The chip shortage seems to have benefited another Taiwan foundry United Microelectronic Corp. almost as much. UMC’s sales for the first nine months of 2021 were NT$153.91 billion (about $5.5 billion) up 17.0 percent. For the month of September UMC’s sales were NT$18.75 billion (about $670 million), up 29.0 percent from the same month a year before.
