TÜV SÜD invests in EMC chamber to reduce costs and time to market

Based at the company’s Hampshire headquarters, the new semi-anechoic EMC chamber is in addition to its eight existing ones, significantly increasing capacity to meet exponential market demand for a one-stop compliance service. The new 24-hour service will mean that tests can be completed more quickly, delivering manufacturers reduced testing costs and a shorter time to market for new products.

The new chamber will offer emissions and immunity testing to worldwide compliance specifications. This will support growing demand from manufacturers to access multiple global markets simultaneously for products which integrate increasingly complex electronics and wireless components.

Jensen Adams, Chief Engineer Industry EMC at TÜV SÜD Product Service, said: “Traditionally test laboratories are slow to purchase new facilities, but we have made this investment to meet a growing demand from our customers to support them throughout the entire product development lifecycle. In such a highly competitive global market, there is a growing demand for pre-compliance testing from the initial design stage, as this avoids any retro-fitting at a later stage, which is costly and will invariably delay the time to market. The new chamber and 24-hour service gives us much greater capacity to meet that demand, and the flexibility to help our customers deliver products quickly to market which are both compliant and reliable.”
