ENEC+ verifies initial performance claims and assesses the robustness of product design for luminaries.

TÜV SÜD is now accredited by EEPCA to issue the ENEC+ mark for lighting. The ENEC+ mark is applicable for the lighting category, including growing energy efficient technologies such as LED luminaires and modules. It serves as an objective comparison for lighting products by verifying initial performance claims and assessing the robustness of product design. Further, the ENEC+ mark is continually relevant to the latest industry advances as its requirements evolve over time, with new performance related requirements included with the progression of industry technology.

In order to have the ENEC+ mark, manufacturers need to comply with both the safety requirements of the ENEC mark and the performance requirements. As per EEPCA, ENEC+ reduces the costs related to tenders as there is no need for repeated product tests against varying qualification rules included in calls for tender.

TÜV SÜD claims to offer a one stop service for lighting manufacturers, allowing for simplification and cost reduction of the entire testing and certification process. With multiple testing and certification services, including CE marking testing, GS mark, CB, energy efficiency and RoHS testing as well as certifications related to access to North American market, lighting manufacturers can achieve global market access with a single partner.

“The performance of luminaires is important, particularly for growing lighting technologies such as LED lighting. Through the ENEC+ mark, manufacturers can demonstrate performance of their product and achieve access to the European market. Lighting manufacturers can also achieve a competitive edge with the ENEC+ mark as it will be the future gold standard for luminary manufacturers seeking independent and objective verification of their product performance claims,” explained Asli Solmaz-Kaiser, Global Business Line Manager ENE (Electrical and Electronics), TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH.
