Two-port powerline Ethernet adapter targets IPTV
The PowerGrid 9023 allows end-users to connect multiple devices to the same connection. With mass market adoption of HDTV, Internet TV services becoming more mainstream, and in the UK the launch of YouView, Powerline is intended to provide a solution to the bandwidth and QoS requirements of distributing high definition content to TV screens throughout the home, leaving wireless networks free for other devices such as notebooks, tablets and smartphones.
Each adapter incorporates an advanced Ethernet switch enclosed in the same robust casing as used by the PowerGrid 9020 and builds upon the same feature set. This includes dynamic energy management that adapts power consumption according to the bandwidth required by the network, as well as hibernating adapters in an active standby mode when not in use.
The PowerGrid 9023 adapters deliver speeds up to 200 Mbps and the 9020 has already proven a hit with UK consumers, with 70% of customer reviews on amazon.co.uk giving it a 5 star rating. Both the PowerGrid 9020 and 9023 are backward compatible with the earlier PowerGrid 902 devices.
