u-blox SARA provides cellular connectivity for new IoT platform
The platform will allow businesses to connect existing machinery to the Cloud and offer new services and increase their efficiency. The new platform will be showcased in a series of workshops hosted by Iomote this month. At the heart of the Industry 4.0 platform is the programmable X400 gateway, which can add the physical connectivity to machinery. The X400 gateway is supported by the MyMote web dashboard for system administrators. MyMote can be used to manage the system and manage remote upgrades to devices in the field. The data is uploaded to Microsoft Azure and can be accessed by the customer.
Iomote chose the SARA solution because of its extensive coverage and small form factor that is pin-to-pin compatible with other members of the SARA range, which allows each customer to choose the connectivity option that is best for their own needs.
To allow flexibility, the X400 gateway includes two processors. Connectivity, security, and OTA programming are handled on the core processor. Customer applications are run on the separate application processor, which is programmable using the Arduino IDE. Field applications can be created easily by leveraging the Arduino IDE and its readily available libraries and software.
