PlusCharge has launched what it says is the UK’s first AC and DC electric vehicle charger with a large media screen.

The charger developer has teamed with ATEM Networks on the system which supports 22kW AC and modular 120-180kW DC charging with a 55in media screen.

The dual SIM system has high visibility even in direct sunlight to support content regardless of the weather conditions and form multiple sources. The partnership with ATEM Networks allows PlusCharge is able to offer the seamless integration of a wide range of bespoke content, including cycling advertising or live streaming.

“Unlike many EV charging providers that solely offer AC charging stations with outdoor advertising screens, PlusCharge is innovating the market by firstly offering the more powerful DC charging stations, but also launching our first AC and DC media screen charging points,” explains David Hytch, Technical Director for PlusCharge.

“Available with dual SIM cards, our solution provides users with the ability to operate the system on more than one link, therefore reducing the possibility of data bottlenecks when supporting both chargers and media screen content,” said Hytch.

“With ATEM Networks as our partner, we can also provide customised content for fixed cycles or live streaming based on user requirements on each unit, allowing different content for each screen. This opens up new revenue opportunities for our customers on a per month basis.”

“This partnership allows us to roll out new media formats across the UK, complementing our German programme where the first locations have gone live in Berlin,” said Shahin Shahroudi, Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer at ATEM Networks. “Through our partnership, customers can expect tailored content on the Media Screens and user-friendly management practices that ensure ease of use. Overall, we have ensured that our customer-centric solutions and unwavering dedication provide an exceptional service.”

The PlusCHarge back-office software, PlusConnect, is hardware agnostic and can run and monetise all energy options including electric vehicle charging (EVC) and hydrogen, as well as load balance across the chargers.

“Our hardware and software enables bespoke packages to be created for our customers based on their specific requirements,” said Hytch. “With PlusConnect, which is available with our Media Screens, we can provide online dashboards for multi-user log in for live charger status; unlimited capacity of EVCPs, users, vehicles and RFID cards; data feeds via API direct to customer systems; and flexible pricing tariffs including subscription options.

“We will also be shortly adding remote credit card readers to support those AC chargers with no contactless capability, which will be pedestal mounted. Add on the ability to integrate with all major roaming providers thanks to our open API, and what we have is a dynamic back-office system and dashboard that provides users with the ability to manage their EV charge points quickly and efficiently.”
