The new TLP175A is suitable for designs that demand high-reliability switching and improved efficiency while saving board space.

Toshiba’s new photorelay provides a smaller, more reliable, longer life and lower power alternative to mechanical relays. Target applications will include security systems, factory automation equipment, utility meters and instrumentation. Minimum creepage and clearance distances of 5.0 mm and an internal isolation thickness of 0.4 mm (min) contribute to a minimum isolation voltage rated at 3750 Vrms.

The photorelay’s miniature 4-pin SO6 package incorporates an infrared LED that is optically coupled to a photo MOSFET. Package dimensions are just 7.0 mm x 3.7 mm x 2.1 mm. A 1 mA current is all that is required to trigger the LED and turn the photorelay on.

Featuring a normally open (1-Form-A) configuration, the TLP175A has an OFF-state output terminal voltage of 60 V and a maximum ON-state current of 100 mA. Performance is guaranteed for operating temperatures between -40°C and 85°C.
