Ultra-low phase jitter oscillators
Designed for use in applications that require ultra-low phase noise – such as flat panel displays for consumer TVs, video streaming systems via external cables (e.g. LDI), high speed serial communications links such as Serial ATA & FireWire, SONET, xDSL, SDH, set-top box and Ethernet cards – the EQHJ series oscillators deliver frequency stability from ±25 ppm over the industrial frequency range −40 to +85°C. Three industry standard surface mount packages are available at 7.0 x 5.0 x 1.4 mm, 5.0 x 3.2 x 1.2 mm and 3.2 x 2.5 x 1.0 mm. Current consumption ranges from 3 mA typical, 5 mA maximum for the smallest package size to 7 mA typical, 10 mA maximum for the largest devices.
All package sizes are available over the frequency range 5.0 to 50 MHz and additional specifications include 15 pF load (CMOS), start-up time of 0.8 msec typical, 5.0 msec maximum and duty cycle of 50% ±5% (measured at 50% VDD). Typical rise times are 5.0 nsec for smallest size down to 1.5 nswc for largest package, 10 nsec maximum across all sizes. Ageing is ±3 ppm for first year and ±2 ppm per year thereafter (at 25°C). Phase noise specifications are 48 fsec typical at 3.3 VDD and 118 fsec typical at 1.8VDD.
